Clare Carr smashes her 10K PB

Run Preston 10K
Sun 8th July 2007

Before the race Clare & I chatted about our previous 10K best times and what we would like to achieve that day. Bearing in mind the course was pretty hilly and not considered to be conducive for a PB (personal best). Clare's previous 10K PB was just over 52 minutes, but she really, really wanted was to get that time down to less than 50minutes.

Well it just goes to show that if you really, really want something with a bit of sweat and a lot of perseverance your efforts will be rewarded. As Clare ("I don't like hills") went on to prove with a fantastic PB of 49m 36s - smashing 3 minutes of her previous best time. ( Even more impressively she was still smiling at the finish!)

This is a relatively new 10K held in Preston City centre, it is a great celebration of running including junior fun run, 5K run and a 10K run.

There were approx 500 runners in the 10K with a huge percentage of fun runners and unattached runners making this an ideal choice for anyone contemplating their 1st go at this distance.

Panthers In the Park

Cuerdon Valley Badger 10K

Thur 19th July

A lovely summers evening saw several Panthers roaming the ground of this lovely country Park near Preston.

This was a lovely charity 10K run with runners of all abilities taking part. The park was lovely, the evening was lovely, the course was lovely, well all apart from the gates, and steps and mud and steps and gates and mud and cows and er well, more steps and more gates!

Seriously though if you are thinking of doing your first 10K this is a nice event, well organised with tea and cakes at the end - what more encouragement do you need.

This was the last of 3 in this years series but it should be on again next year.

At the very least it was a lovely place for a training run. Maybe we will organise some panther away days in Sept/Oct watch this space.

We had a great turn out to this race see our results page.

Harrock Hill

*** WED 22nd AUG ******

LAST CHANCE TO DO THIS LOVELY RACE THIS YEAR ******

The last race of this series of 4 is part of our Pink Panthers Grand Prix, remember points make prizes! Fair enough it is a tough 5.5M course, but not many of our girls turn out to do this race so if you just turn up and have a nice run round, you are likely to earn some well deserved points, or is that pints - the race fishes at the Farmers Arms in Hilldale and is a great local event

For Pink Panther results at the last 3 Harrock hill races see our results page.

Well done to Clare Carr who has completed 2 of the 3 races so far, the conditions in the July race being especially difficult from the previous month of non stop rain. It was mud up to your armpits and Clare still managed to finish with perfectly clean trainers and a smile on her face !
