Ashurst Beacon Cross Country

RACE no 2

A very muddy, hilly and tough 5 mile course greeted our Pink Panthers on Sun 11 Nov. We had a team of 3 runners including cross country virgin Ann Gregory. Support crew included Diane ( I cant wait to get rid of these crutches) Powell and Yvonne ( I just want my contact lenses back) Wyke.

The team did us proud and showed true grit and determination in there efforts to do their best for themselves and the team. See Results

Fancy a run in the mud on Sunday 11th Nov

ASHURST BEACON Cross Country Race , 11am

This is our most local cross country event, it is quite a hilly 5 mile course, so not for the feignt hearted, but it is good fun. We need a team of at least 3 Panthers, so who's up for it ? PLEASE let me (Yvonne) or Diane know.

Our team last year show off their mud collection.

Even if you don't feel racing is your thing, how about coming up to beacon country park and giving our girls a cheer, it's a lovely place to take your kids/ dog/ partner/ for a walk. Or how about combining a sunday morning run with cheering on our team, whether you choose to race or watch it would be great to see our Panthers out in force, after all we do have the best kit around!

The race is organised by Skem Boundary Harriers and as usual there are free buttes and tea afterwards. A few of us are helping with the butty making I think we need to get these to Diane's by Sat evening.

SATURDAY MORNINGS

WHERE HAS EVERYONE GONE ??

HELP all colour has drained from the village on a Saturday morning, no longer is it filled with bright pink and the chatter of 20 or more excited pink panthers setting out on their merry way. The last few weeks has seen a dramatic decline in numbers - WHY?

This club has been set up with the aim of GENUINLY trying to provide running opportunities for ALL abilities - but we can only do that on a Saturday if there are enough people there, this helps us to split into groups of different abilities so that everyone can enjoy there run. Unfortunately if there ifs only 5 or 6 people, the beginner runners may feel intimidated and this is not what we want.
SO PLEASE if you used to run on a Sat come back - we don't bite honest.

AGM

Our AGM for 2007 was held on Fri 2nd Nov, thankyou to all of those who could attend and for members sending apologies who could not.

I will post the minutes from this meeting as soon as possible. Lots of future events came up for discussion , running orientated and social.

ANNUAL AWARDS PARTY

JAN 08
( date to be confirmed - keep your Sundays free this will be a great start to the New year)
One such idea is that we may hold a very friendly 3 mile handicap race one Sunday morning in January prior to our annual get together/ very important awards presentation.
