Supper and dance on Thurs 5th June.

Well hello Cowboy! The hat is definitely you!
Special thanks to all the boys behind the bar for such brilliant serving of drinks.

Also we all owe a big thankyou to Diane Powell, Sally Adams, Kirsty Webster, Ann Gregory and Paula Gaterell for organising the whole event. (By the way what is Diane doing here?)

It was a brilliant night, the band were excellent and soon had everyone up on their feet. It was a really good laugh and completely exhausting ( I don't know what was the most tiring being swung round at 90 miles an hour by a complete stranger or just laughing at my own inadequacy to follow simple instructions! Still I wasn't the only one getting the steps wrong and it took a few attempts to get reluctant bystanders (like Dr Mullen) up on the dance floor. Anyway most people plucked up courage to have a go and a good time was had by all.

All money raised is going to the Percy Hedley Foundation,
where they are hoping to provide specialist sporting equipment
for disabled children. It is fantastic to think that as we plod round
the streets of Newcastle the money we raise will be
helping others to have fun in sport.

The Derwentwater trail race and challeng is now full BUT you can still enter the sport 5K and there are childrens races to enter on the day. Or you could just come and support your fellow Panthers whilst having a lovely picnic!

WEEKEND AWAY SAT 6th SEPT - SUN 7th SEPT

Ok so who is up for a fun weekend away in the lakes that will definitely include a lot of eating, some drinking, some games lots of great scenery and maybe a bit of running thrown in too!

We've booked a B&B in Keswick for the Sat night. It can take about 45 people, includes several family rooms, triple rooms etc. The cost works out at approx £24 per adult, less for children.
Prices to be confirmed soon. Basically we can take over the B&B for the weekend. It is situated right at the edge of Derwnwater with fantastic views over the surrounding fells. It is also very close to a beautiful park with crazy golf and lovely walks and best of all it is only a minutes walk to the centre of Keswick for food and drink!

We've organised this to coincide with the Dewentwater trail race on the Sat, I believe this race is now full but there will still be places on the sport 5K, for anyone wanting to do a shorter race. There is also lots of things for the kids, including fun runs, face painting, climbing etc, so if you would like to come and support your team mates it makes a great day out.

We have already had some bookings for the B&B so email me on yvonne@wyke.org or phone me on 07812 148207 as soon as you can to book your place.

Garburn Challenge 24K

This is a notoriously long and difficult route. Not only is it incredibly hilly but it is all off road, with some very bouldery sections. but on the plus side this is one of the best organised events you could take part in and the scenery is simply stunning.

This year, Diane Powell, Tanya Foley and Jayne Woodburn headed for the hills and by all accounts had a great day out. Diane swore she never wanted to do this race again last year, but of course DID do it again this year. Tanya swore she didn't like hills and off road running before joining the pink panthers, but is now hooked and loved the course, and Jayne seems to to anything that is a bit mad! What can I say, you do need to have taken leave of your senses somewhat to do this event because it is tough, but it is so beautiful somehow the pain doesn't seem so bad.

Our girls did brilliantly finishing within 15mins of each other, Tanya being the 1st home in 2hr 47min, closely followed by Jayne in 2hr 49min and Diane completing the course in a very respectable 3hr 5 min.

Paula Gaterell entered the new event of the day which was the Sport 5K and came in a magnificent 3rd Place in the womens section.

If you are equally mad and want to do something a bit bonkers there are still more of these events to enter this year. It is a great day out with lots of family activities see lakelandtrail website.
